I know most of you are sick of hearing about 'working out this' and 'eating right that' - but considering that it is filling most of my days right now - I feel there's not much else I can blog about.
I have faithfully gone to the gym for almost two weeks straight. (Minus out-of-town days.) That's two weeks longer than any previous "Get Fit" attempt I have ever made.
I am eating Special K and Lean Quisine and drinking tons of water and living in a state of aching body I have never known before now.
My daily workout generally consists of two hours of cardio and 1 hour of weights every day.
I am honestly applying myself in ways I never have in order to give this new lifestyle a fighting chance.
I am, for once, trying to lose weight and get in shape in the healthiest of ways - without resorting to starvation or other instant result methods.
I have gained weight.
Yup. Gained.
For those of you who want to tell me 'Muscle weighs more than fat,' - I scoff at your input.
I don't think it's fair that someone who is monitoring their caloric intake, and is consistently burning more calories than are being consumed, should have to listen to the bit about 'Muscle weighing more than fat.'
It's simple addition and subtraction - and I am on an upward climb.
So I have gained weight. I must be one very muscle-y girl.
You have not heard the end of this saga...

you are way dedicated, girl. i'm dreading the workout routine i promised myself (and my husband..) i'd start after the baby is born. i'm gonna be excited if i spend 45 minutes TOTAL at the gym. three hours every day spells burnout in my book. you are better than i.
about the weight gain, i say you should just judge by how you feel. do your clothes fit better? do you FEEL better about yourself? more energy, feel more attractive, etc.? weight yourself like once every 2 months.
that's what i'd do anyway..
'tis true my friend. Muscle is heavier than fat.
ie: i weighed 118 before i went into the military. I weighed 126 afterwards. i went from a (loose) size 6 to a (tight) size 8. AND yes, I have lots o'muscles! truely buns o'steel! lol
Hi you don't know me and I don't know you but you know my sister (Sarah Henry) and I like to read blogs that she reads because I am weird I suppose.Anyway my name is Laura and I just thought I would put in my two cents on your post....
I am a Kinesiology major (I graduate in December YAY!) and I know it is frustrating but it is true that Muscle weights more than fat if fact almost three times more... and it is VERY common for people to gain weight at the beginning of their work-out regimne. So don't let it get you down in fact it should motivate you more because that means what you are doing is working!!! I think it is awesome that you are working so hard. And I PROMISE that you will see the results soon! Keep it up!
You forgot to mention that your clothes DO fit better and that your bootie is diminishing. Throw out your scale.
Don't feel bad Angela, I also have been exercising faithfully every day for the last 2 months and watching the caloric intake and guess what, I've gained also. It just won't go away. I plan on working harder when I get back from vacation. I think it is awsome what your doing. Keep it up and don't give up. Love you
Well I've been working hard at it as well...gaining that is. I personally think you look great and I would just throw the scales out. Don't let it determine your mindset or mood. Keep doing what your doing and be healthy. If you don't decide that now you will run around the same bush for the next 50 years with the same results. Just be healthy. period.
