Santa Conversation - Part 2.

I never have been able to feel completely ok with telling your kids there IS a Santa Claus. I try instead to focus on the Jesus -HELLO - aspect of Christmas.
But J. is in preschool and even at a Christian preschool, Santa talk is inevitable.

So we had another discussion about Jesus's Birthday being Christmas and thus, the reason we celebrate Christmas.
J. asked about what the Bible said about Santa.

I again told him that Santa is NOT in the Bible.

He asked, "Why?"

I thought I would take the easy road and say, "Well, because Santa isn't holy."

J's response, "Then why does he say, 'Ho Ho Ho!'"

I give up!!

Good Momma.

my response to that is that people who are Christian act like santas to the rest of the world and at one time Santa was real and did give to children. so nothing is a lie and the giving spirit is something God wants us to have.

I do something similar to team-d. I tell them about St. Nicolas and that the Santa we think of today is a made-up fun story/game based on him. I also tell them not to ruin it for the kids whose parents want to play that game and to keep it a secret for now. My kids are too smart to lie to anyway. It's really funny when the old people at the supermarket ask them questions about Santa as if they believe in him.

well my kids believe in santa (or one of them still does). hannah informed me the other day that she does not believe anymore. i asked her if it bothered her, she said no. i told her now that she was a big girl and on christmas eve could help us set up "santa" stuff for bekah. she just lit right up. She was SO excited. that development just overshadowed her learning the truth.

no tears, no fuss, no muss.
